2017 Gallery

My work in 2017 was initially focused on expanding my explorations of macro-pointialism and especially working on the themes of paintings inspired by the Bosque here in Albuquerque. While there are several paintings along those lines, I was also thrown off course when I was in London for work and had a day to spend at the Tate Modern where I saw an installation of six paintings by Gerhard Richter. The works were a series of large format paintings using his style that blurred and blended colors together. All told, I spent the most time in that room and even, like the tours that I was, took pictures of his paintings. Once I got back to the studio after that trip, I immediately started on a new series of paintings using that style of blurred lines and colors. Ultimately I know that these paintings are, for now, just derivative, but it is an interesting approach to explore and possibly add some depth to future works.
