Kiskadden Photography: Cityscapes

The urban landscape, so rich with things to take pictures of. Many are the times I have gone to the vast urban environments of the US- with drunken nights carousing around from restarunt to bar to bar to club to some apartment. Wondering the streets of Grenich Village at four am or the coffee shops of the Height in a foggy aftgernoon, there is just so much vibrancy in city life. Hopefully some of these shots capture just a bit of that energy...

Charlotte, North Carolina

Charlotte- the city I spent the later part of my youth in. I still remember it from my High School Days before Bank of America moved there and the face of the city changed from kind of an old-south to more of an Atlanta knock off...

Raleigh, North Carolina

I spent a great deal of my life in Raleigh since for six years I was a student at North Carolina State University. Again, the town is changing fast. I remember the old days of Hillsborough Street where things still had a kind of grungy gritty feel to them. Now, its all about Starbucks and other chains, but I still remember some of the old places, like Cup-a-Joes which was furnished entierly with thrift store furnature and you could smoke in the whole place (not that thats a good habit ot have of course...). The place is still there but the feel is different. I onnly wish I had discovered photography eaarlier!

New York, New York

New York, New York, New York! Since I have not yet gotten the chance to visit some of the worlds other mega-cities, NYC defines the urban environment for me. And, I think that it is probably a tough act to follow. There is just a pulse on the streets of New York that I have never felt anywhere else in my travels around the world...

San Francisco, California

Ahhh, the City by the Bay. Though not huge, I would have to say that this is probably my favorite city. Even if it werent for my long standing fascination with the Beat generation, you also have book stores and coffee houses on nearly every corner. Through in a couple of bars, and you've pretty much got every thing I need taken care of! Just too bad its so damned expensive.

Las Veagas, Nevada

Well, I really wish that I could tell you all of the stories of the things I have done in Vegas, but that might jepordize my future run for President. Plus, its not all that clear anyway. Also, I dont think all of the statue of limitations have expired, so I better utalize my fifth amanedment rights here. Finally, as you already know, there is the cardinal rule: What goes on in Vegas, stays in Vegas...

Washington D. C.

I first used to visit DC in my punk rock days in collage when we would spend most of our time on M street or wondering around Georgetown. Now, when I go to DC (which happens with suprising regularity) I'm all about the reastraunts- some of the best "ethnic" food can be found there I think. My favorite? Addis Ababa, an Ethopian place in Adams Morgan. Plus, of course, the Smithsonian!

Boston, Massachusetts

Bean Town- home of the hated Red Sox (yesssss, I admit it, I'm a Yankees Fan! Go Yankees!). Still, sucky baseball team aside, a really great town with some interesting archatecture and even more interesting road system. Seriously, sometiems I wonder about the people who are in chage of Bostons road system, especially the infamous Big Dig. To make up for that, the North End is way cool and when I used to visit Boston we would always hit the North End for atleast on meal.

Albuquerque, New Mexico

Albuquerque- or Burque as sometimes refered to by locals. Better known as the Caipitol of the Land of Entrapment (not to be confused with Santa Fe, the capitol of the Land of Enchantment). I guess to be honest its not in the same league as those cities above, but a very cool place that I love just as much. And, the largest hot air balloon festiaval in the world!

Dublin, Ireland

Went to Dublin in 2001, my second time in Europe. Wonderful little city with no skyscrapers and a cool arts district. Met some really cool people in the Hostel I was staying in. And, of course, many pints of Guiness!

Mexico City, Mexico

Another cool place where you could find huge modern buildings and lots of colonial era buildings with increadibly intraicate facades. Some amazing stuff that we just dont have enough of in the US. Plus, all of the Diego Rivera murals!

Beijing, China

The heart of China- a mixture of collosal sky scrapers, balnd communist era apartment blocks, and the old school hutongs. A crazy mesh of pedestrians, bikers, and insane drivers. Plus, some good times can be found in the western bars where my firrends and I were treated almost like Rock Stars.

Urban Paradise: Honolulu

One thing that always amazed me was the urbanity of the city of Honolulu, so many things that, if you've never spent much time here, you jjust dont expect to have in "Paradise". So, I took to doing a photo series of several urban ares of the Metropolis of Honolulu
